Wasatch Contras is a (501)(C)(3) nonprofit educational organization which is dedicated to the preservation, study, teaching, enjoyment and continuing evolution of American traditional and historical dance, music and song.

Wasatch Contras sponsors 11-12 monthly dances in Salt Lake City (see dates below) and Ogden (see dates below) and is the host organization for the annual Wasatch Wiggle Dance Weekend.

Our dances feature live music provided by a variety of local and out of town bands. Dress is casual and we recommend low heeled comfortable shoes. Contra Dance is not very fun or enjoyable danced in heels, flip flops, slip on or toeless shoes.

We have a Caller who teaches each dance so even if you have never Contra Danced before you will soon be dancing like you have. If you still don't feel confident about trying Contra Dance we offer a brief Beginners Workshop before each dance and that starts at 7:00 PM with the main dance running from 7:30-10:30 PM.

Our monthly dances are held in the gym at the Columbus Community/Senior center located at 2531 South 400 East in South Salt Lake City, UT. Cost: $5 Adult (16+) $3 Youth (7-15) per person except for December and the Wasatch Wiggle.

Remember to bring new or gently used items to put in the auction as well as plenty of cash. All proceeds go toward our December Holiday Ball and Dinner Dance.
